The Management Team

Mr. Nevile de Noronha
Principal

A postgraduate in English, Mr. Neville de Noronha was trained in Therapeutic Counselling in Vellore, in Community Development at Indian Social Institute, Bangalore and in school administration at Administrative Staff College, Hyderabad and the University of Illinois (Chicago) on a Fulbright scholarship.

As Principal of Nopany Vidyalaya Dr. Manmohan Singh awarded his school ‘The Telegraph School Award for Academic Excellence’. Earlier Mr. Noronha was principal of Doha Modern Indian School, Qatar a GEMS managed co-educational senior secondary day boarding school. Mr. Noronha has been an educational correspondent for ‘The Telegraph’ Calcutta, broadcast live programmes for Doordarshan and addressed international forum in the U.S. the Far East and Europe

 

Mr. Richard Monteiro
Assistant Headmaster

Mr. Monteiro, Asst. Headmaster of OOHS, AW since September 2007, with many years of expertise in teaching and school administration was the Principal of a CBSE school in Nigeria in 2006 and Headmaster of Dr. Graham’s School, Kalimpong India (2003 – 2005). During his tenure at  DGS won three prestigious  Telegraph school awards for 3 years in  succession.

Mr. Monterio was invited to speak at Lord Wandsworth and at Taverham School in the U.K. in 2005.

 

Mr. A.C. Philip
Senior Supervisor Grades 11 and 12

Mr. A.C. Philip, M.A., M.Ed. has 16 years of experience in teaching and school administration in India and 15 years at OUR OWN HIGH SCHOOL as Senior Supervisor.

He has undergone training in School Management at XLRI, Jamshedpur and a training by GEMS for ‘Prospective Principals.’

Mr. Akhyar Ahmad
Supervisor Grades 9 and 10

Mr. Ahmad, B.Sc., B.Ed., M.BA. joined Our Own in 1981. As a Mathematics teacher with30 years experience, Mr. Ahmad has conducted workshops, evaluated text books and being associated with teacher training.

Mr. Ahmad has been a House Master, the Deputy Superintendent of the CBSE examinations and the Supervising Examiner for ICSE. On two occasions Mr. Ahmad has received the GEMS Teacher Recognition Award.

 

Mr. B.J. Somayaji
Supervisor Grades 7 and 8

Mr. B.J. Somayaji, M.Sc., B.Ed. with a passion for teaching has taught in the   African countries of Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Gambia. Mr., Somayaji  joined Our Own English High School, Dubai in 1986 as a PGT in Physics and produced excellent results in Grade XII examinations. He has been the Centre Superintendent for CBSE Board Examinations and successfully conducted Summer Camps for many years.

Mr. Somayaji was appointed Supervisor for Grades 7 & 8 in April 2000

 

Mrs. Bindu. Saikumar
Supervisor Grades 7 and 8

Mrs. Bindu. Saikumar, M.Sc., B.Ed., a middle school Science teacher since 1995 and a Science Coordinator since 2000, is passionate about working with children.

She has transformational leadership skills and can enthuse teams to work towards shared goals. Ms. Saikumar has spearheaded CPD programmes for GEMS Asian school teachers on ‘Effective Classroom Strategies'.

 

Mr. Lionel Young
Supervisor Grades 5 and 6

Mr. Lionel Young M.A, B.Ed. was the Vice Principal of Christ Church School, Bombay, before moving to Dubai as Supervisor for Grades V and VI.

He is actively involved in the all round development of the child, building his confidence, developing his talents and enabling him to grow into a useful citizen.

 

Mrs. Neelima Nanda
Supervisor  Grades 3 & 4

Mrs. Neelima Nanda, B.Sc. B.Ed. has teaching and administrative experience of 21 years. She was awarded the Teacher Recognition Award in 2006.

Her responsibilities include monitoring policies, directing teachers, interacting with parents and events like Annual Prize Day, Sports Day, Founder’s Day and Exhibitions

 

Mrs. Sudha Chidambaram
Supervisor  Grades 1 and 2

Mrs. Sudha Chidambaram M.A., B.Ed. has 8 years of teaching experience in India and 13 years in GEMS. She has always worked with a positive attitude and has conducted exhibitions to highlight the multiple intelligences of the children, trained students for Inter school competitions and organized school events.

Mrs. Chidambaram received the GEMS Teacher Recognition Award in 2005.

 

Mr. Agnelo Paul Fernandez
Activity Coordinator

Mr. Fernandez is a Computer Science graduate with 15 years of rich teaching, including 10 years of working at Our Own. Mr. Fernandez possesses strong technical expertise on various programming languages, Database, Tools and Utilities.

He spearheads the schools cultural activities, stage presentations, inter and intra school competitions. Mr. Fernandez has a passion for music.
