Our pastoral care programme is underpinned by the on-going development of relationship between students and between staff and students.
Personal Counselling
A programme of structured support is provided for students identified as having special educational needs. These may be physical, social, emotional or academic and may be for a short or extended period of time. Special needs support may be given to the very able child as well as those with learning difficulties. In these circumstances early contact with parents is important because close collaboration between school and parents is essential to the success of any special programme of work.
Prefectorial System
The prefectorial system forms the backbone of student life in the school. The initiative and capabilities of individual students are continuously watched and those with inherent or cultivated leadership qualities are selected to the Prefectorial Board.
This team headed by the Head Boy and the Deputy Head Boy is encouraged to manage students’ affairs independently, though with the guidance of staff members. The Head Boy and the Deputy Head Boy serve as a link between the school authorities and the student community.
House System
All students are allotted to the four houses: Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Neptune. The House System is an integral part of school life. Through various activities it helps develop camaraderie, team spirit and healthy competition.
Each house is placed under a House Master, who is directly responsible for the discipline and general well being of the members of the House. He is assisted in his tasks by the Asst. House Master and a team of tutors and prefects.
Regular Inter-House competitions are held throughout the year in various extra-curricular activities, which foster a healthy, competitive sprit with each house striving to win the coveted Champion-House trophy each year.
Student Council
The Student Council is at the forefront of all student activities and serves as the liaison between students and administration, faculty, alumni, and the community. The Council promotes the welfare of students. Class Monitors of all sections of Grades 5 to 12 are members of the student Council which is led by a President and Vice-President.
Workshops
Special workshops are organised in various subjects every year taking the students beyond the classroom and into more comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the subject. Under the supervision and guidance of the teachers, students help in the organizing and conducting of these workshops.
Mentoring
Students are attached to designated mentors who monitor their progress and extend advice when needed.
Extra Coaching in Academic Subjects
For students who feel the need for extra guidance, the school provides coaching classes after school hours and during vacations at a very nominal fee.
